“Do I need a list to do a launch? Do I need an e-mail list?” And the question should be, “Do I need a list, period.” And the answer’s “Yes, you absolutely need a list.”
If you are in business online and you’re not building a list, then you are not building a business. You’ve got a hobby. A list is the one true asset that you can have online in my opinion. I started doing it before I even had a website, and that has made all the difference for me.
You need to build a list. Whether you buy my product, buy someone else’s product, don’t buy any products – I don’t care what it is, if you’re going to be in business online, you need to build a list. Once you do that, you are in control of your own destiny.
How do you get a list? The best way to build a list is with a product launch. I’ve put hundreds and hundreds of thousands of people on my lists over the years. I’ve done ad words. I’ve done pay-per-click. I’ve done banners. I’ve done affiliate programs. I’ve done viral. I’ve done everything I could possibly think of to build a list. They’ve all worked, and the way that works the best, the fastest, the easiest, the most inexpensive is with a launch.
With a launch, you go from having 500 people on your list; you do a simple internal launch, and all of a sudden you have 1,000 people on your list. I’ve seen this repeatedly. You’ll typically double your list with a well-run launch.
Once you do a few internal launches, and you get some momentum, then you do a JV launch. I’ve consistently put 30,000, 40,000, 50,000 people on my list by just doing a JV launch. It all starts with a tiny seed list. You use a launch to build that up and build your product. This is a key: launches are about list getting. Lists are money in the bank, and product launches are the best way to build those lists.
