Behind the Scenes – Leading Your Business to Launch

A product launch (done well) is a specific strategy that introduces your new product/service into the marketplace and totally disrupts the competition. Think about how sporting events (Super Bowl) and movie premiers (Star Wars) capture the attention of their target market. On the other hand, think about how many new websites are launched everyday with neither a visitor nor a sale to show for it. The internet allows you to have a very successful product launch without spending nearly as much money as the NFL or George Lucas, but you have to understand the science behind them.

As a Product Launch Manager I talk to a lot of people about their business and their specific product launch strategy. And if I’m not careful, the conversation can become completely scatter-brained.

What I mean is, we can end up talking a lot about “ideas” and not nearly enough about “implementation”.

People see the results from a great product launch and their eyes glaze over with opportunity. They say things like “can you get me the same results the other guy got?”

Um…maybe…let’s talk it out.

Yes, it is true. I specialize in helping businesses increase sales and attract new customers with sound product launch strategies, but a successful product launch is not created with magic words and a cloud of dust. It’s created in real-life, real-world business fundamentals.

This video is a recap from a 3-hour team brainstorming session to help outline those fundamentals so you know what to expect in our product launch conversation.

It boils down to 4 main topics.

  • What market do you serve? (Who is the customer and what products do you offer to them?)
  • Do you have a website? (How do customers find and interact with you?  How does your tech stuff get done?)
  • Do you have an email list? (How big is the list and how well does the list respond to you?)
  • What is the launch plan? (What are your current thoughts/expectations about launch strategy, timing, and offerings)

Please use this content to review your own business and see where you need a product launch check-up.  Coming soon, we will be creating and distributing checklists so you can continue to analyze your own business more efficiently.  In the meantime, if you have any additional questions please post in the comment field below.
