Let’s Talk About How to Grow Your Business

Earlier this year I attended a private, invitation only seminar for Jeff Walker’s Product Launch Managers.  This three day seminar was an intense “learn fest” about how to use the strategies contained in Product Launch Formula to revolutionize our client’s businesses.  In many ways, I am still buzzing from the experience.  The caliber of people and the level of content was top-notch.

To give you an idea of the seminar’s tone, here are some highlights from the selected speakers.

Jay Abraham challenged us to think about the term “value” beyond the standard monetary transaction.  He reminded us that in addition to money, there are assets, services, and intellectual property that can all be leveraged to create a great business deal.

Eben Pagan encouraged us to increase the level of transparency in our sales strategies.  He said, “Don’t talk people into doing things.  Give them all of the information they need to make the decision for themselves.”

Don Crowther talked about the importance of holding social media accountable for business results.  He gave us the tools to create, monitor, and measure compelling social media campaigns.

Larry “The Connector” Benet talked about how to create relationships with A+ clientele.  He encouraged us to leverage our own individual skills in addition to the skills “hidden” in our networks to add value to others.

Andy Jenkins challenged our thoughts on innovation.  Actually, he said that “innovation sucked”.  He told us to stick to the fundamentals and stop getting distracted by the latest and greatest idea.

Paul Lemberg couldn’t have been more correct when he said, “Never stop marketing! When you get busy, raise your prices, but never stop marketing.”  He went on to say that “every business owner should be spending at least 30% of his time marketing his business”.

Not only did I have the opportunity to learn from such high quality speakers, but I also had my own unique opportunity to contribute.

As a member of Jeff Walker’s Platinum Coaching Program, I had the privilege of serving as faculty for the event.  The attendees were split into groups and given different homework assignments.  My job was to supervise the groups as they worked, offer perspective when necessary, and judge their final product launch projects.

In addition, I sat on one of the “Platinum Panels” where we talked about specific elements of product launch strategy.  The picture attached to this post is a segment from my time on the panel.  Was I helpful?  Well, one of the attendees went as far as calling my commentary “astute”.

What makes this event so remarkable?  What should you take away?  Two things…

First, as our economy continues to reel from the latest economic meltdown, almost 200 people came from all over the world (literally) to attend this seminar.  (Oh and did I mention that this seminar was part of a  $5,000+ coaching program?  How’s that for a recession?)

Second, at this seminar we didn’t spend any time talking about our weak economy.  Instead, we talked about how to grow.  We talked about how to deliver more value, more intensely, with more speed.  This seminar reminded us that, as consultants, we do our clients the most justice by challenging them to do the same.

Are these the kind of conversations you are having in your business?  I hope so.

How do you deliver immense value to your clients?  How does that help your business grow?

I’d like to add a few take aways as well:

~ Share your passion for what you do – its contagious

~ We have tools to help business grow exponentially in any economy or niche [re iterating your point]. How incredible is that?

Keep pumpin’ out the love Alzay!

I can’t tell ya how much I missed meeting you personally as well all the other great attendees at the event.

As you very well know, I think you’re position as a “thought leader” is not only noble but fits your USP and character perfectly. I feel very grateful to have met you early on in your career as a PLM because I have a feeling you’re gonna be blasting off quite soon!

WIth that I want to repost the most important question you asked in your article:

“How do you deliver immense value to your clients? How does that help your business grow?”

    Here’s some ideas:

1: Get off your ass and call your clients. Ask ‘em how the hell are they. How’s their family doing?

2: How can you help them? “Hey Frank, how can I help you today?” It’s really that easy and one of the most powerful questions I know of.

3: Compliment them. Cut and paste something that they wrote that inspired you and tell them why. Email it or snail mail it.

4: Use Snail Mail. Send a thank you card to them for being a client. Make it real. Make it human.

5: Send them a postcard if you’re in Mexico.

6: Make thier asses feel special cuz they are!

7: Share something about your life with them.

8: BE yourself with them. Don’t pretend your someone else.

    Be sincere, Be true.

That’s how you can deliver immense value to your clients.

    Booyakah baby.

    peace

Alzay, very astute summary of the of speakers’ points. I, too, found their input invaluable. I had missed the quote from Eben, so appreciate this contribution. Thanks.

Thanks Mary, those speakers gave us a lot of good information chew on. And there goes that “astute” word again…

Thanks a lot Jeff P, those words mean a lot. Blast off, indeed! You gave some real solid tips here and I agree with you. Authenticity is not a “business ploy” it is a value creator. When you take the time to authentically invest in your clients, they in turn invest in you.

    Alzay,

You have covered so much about the Product Launch Manager event in LA.

I’m proud to be a PLM with such an extraordinary group of marketing geniuses.

I love the Product Launch Formula ’cause it speaks to the highest and best in our prospects…and converts them into customers.

    Thanks for sharing. ad

    Hey, Alzay :)

Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it to go to the event.
That’s because I’m having a great deal of business here in Brazil.

The thing I’m learning with you guys is all about creating real, long-term value. This is much beyond any sale or product. This is about making the world a better place to live.

We don’t have to do it by selling anything. By applying all the influence principles to deliver our true value, people automatically give us something in retribution.

That’s when we get true customers ;-)

    Hey Alzay,

Thanks for helping our group duirng one of the break out sessions. Your input got us focussed on the client;s needs. Very glad to meet an experienced Project Launch Manager and learning directly from your experiences.

The live event was really great, and what an awesome opportunity to network with like minded individuals. Unfortunately I had to leave a day early, and missed alot of great stuff.

Im glad you mentioned the state of the economy, as there is now a revolution going on. The economy is evolving, and there is a tremendous opportunity for everyone if they are prepared and knowledgeable. The old way of doing business is becoming extinct, and either businesses will evolve or die. God created death for a reason, and its to make room for new and evolved forms to grow and prosper.

I am so glad to be part of this new evolution in marketing and business development. Look foward to meeting you again at another event.

I have developed several physical cutting edge products over the years and not taken where they could have gone because I stumbled with how to market them effectively.

Not so anymore! When I started to implement the PLF techniques in 2008 and saw how more appreciaitive clients were of my products becasue of PLF it became a win win and the clients were even more eager to be trainined.

The PLM event in LA capped it off with this cutting edge marketing PL technology to get products to the right market fast. And the stellar connections in a room full of sincere, eager people learning from one another in an open sharing and caring space.

You and I had several conversations during the conference and I was drawn to your open and generous manner and of course your ability to connect the dots on some pretty complicated questions that I was seeking clarity.

    Mahalo!

    Hey Alzay,
You certainly are one of our brightest and best Platinums. Can you imagine? We are just at the beginning of bringing a completely new, completely battlefield-tested and proven marketing system into the online and offline worlds.
PLF/PLM will be taught at universities and Jeff will be in history books. One day, someone will say, “Alzay, Alan, Christiane, Marc” and go on to mention others of us, “They were the giants of our industry. What adventures they must’ve of had with Jeff and Jon.”
All the best, all the time,
    Jay

@Jay – Thanks for the compliment! We are certainly on the cutting edge of business and I’m glad to be a part.
@Amir – We have our hands on some awesome tools, but they don’t mean anything if we lose sight of the customer. I look forward to seeing you at another event as well!
@Rodrigo – The idea of “true” customers is a very strong one. When you think about long-term value you get long-term customers. Indeed.

Love the convo, keep em coming…
