Morehouse College Business Plan Workshop – Lessons and Takeaways

On Oct 30 2011, I led a business plan workshop at Morehouse College for those students interested in entrepreneurship.  This workshop is  leading up to the Innovation Expo that will take place on the campus in February 2011.

The purpose of the session was to establish an outline for the students that have ideas but aren’t sure how to turn that idea into a business idea worth funding.  Here is a quick synopsis of the outline I provided.

  • What problem are you solving?
  • Who has this problem?
  • How are they solving this problem today?
  • How many people have this problem?
  • How does your product/service solve this problem?
  • What makes your product/service special?
  • Who is your best distribution partner?

This outline led us into a great conversation about how to identifying a target market, create quality partnerships, and discover competition.  Hear from some of the speakers and from the students themselves.
